Who We Are

The credit union was originally chartered in 1996 as Waycross Teachers Federal Credit Union to serve employees of the Waycross City Board of Education in Waycross, Georgia. During the period 1977-1985, the credit union's field of membership was expanded to include employees of several local educational agencies and adjacent counties boards of education. After the Waycross City School System merged into the Ware County School System in 1991, the credit union changed its name to Community United Federal Credit Union and was designated a multiple-common bond credit union to serve select employee groups in the Waycross-Ware County area. In 2000, the credit union applied for, and was granted, a community charter to serve people who live, work, worship, or attend school in Ware County, Georgia.
